The Niche Press Directory Publishing System (DPS) is a WordPress plugin that creates structured business and service-related product listings organized by U.S. state, county, or city.
Niche Press DPS is not designed to be a generic catalog builder. It is specifically designed to build U.S. location-based directories.
What makes Niche Press DPS different from other WordPress directory plugins is its ability to merge location (e.g., state, county, and city) data with templated content to make massive content directories with unique pages that Google loves to index.
The Niche Press DPS comes equipped with U.S. Census data related to states, counties, and cities. All of the data elements in these location database tables are available to the template system.
Directory builders may also import their own data to complement what is provided. The Niche Press DPS offers an easy way to define additional data about locations (metadata) so it can be used within the DPS templates.
All listing data must be provided by the directory builder. Directory builders can buy listing databases from websites like Oddity Software or locate U.S. government databases from sites like Data.gov. Another opportunity is to use data collection tools like D7 Lead Finder.
Once you have your listing data in CSV format, you can begin building a directory. The listing information supported by Niche Press DPS is basic and limited. When additional data is required, the directory builder can define it and import it in the same method as location metadata.
